A new fundraising campaign launched today by Tesco will support the life-changing work of Diabetes UK, Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation.

Dance Beats is bringing the nation together to have fun, show off their moves and raise millions of pounds to tackle the UK’s biggest health challenges.

Taking place 18-20 July, the fundraiser includes three days of dance marathon fundraising events in thousands of Tesco stores across the country. The epic fundraiser will then conclude with an ambitious World Record attempt at Wembley stadium on 19 and 20 of July where thousands of Tesco colleagues, and members of the public will come together to complete a 30-hour dance marathon relay.

As well as encouraging the public to take part – at the heart of Dance Beats is the Dance Beats Super Group, led by star of Strictly Come Dancing Oti Mabuse, who is joined by professional dancer and TV personality Kimberly Wyatt, pop star Aston Merrygold, and former The Saturdays singer Una Healy. These stars are joined by our own supporter and star Shivali, who featured on the front cover of our Spring issue of Balance magazine.

Chris Askew is our Chief Executive, he said:

“We’re delighted to be joining with Tesco – and our partner charities at British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK – to launch their new Dance Beats fundraising campaign.

“We know that being active is a great way to improve health, so this three day dance challenge is a fantastic way not only to move more, but also to support Tesco in raising vital funds to help us tackle some of the biggest health challenges facing the UK today.

“The money raised will make it possible for Diabetes UK to fund ground-breaking research into preventing Type 2 diabetes for everyone at risk of the condition.”
