Since Flash became available on the NHS Drug Tariff in 2017, huge progress has been made towards more people having access to and using the technology. Diabetes UK is incredibly proud of the role we’ve played in making that happen.
However, many more people can and should be benefiting from this life-changing technology. This position statement outlines our recommendations for who should be given access to Flash and how they should be supported to use it.
We say that the following groups should have access:
- All people living with type 1 diabetes.
- People with any type of diabetes using intensive insulin therapy.
- All people with any type of diabetes who are undergoing any form of dialysis
We look forward to working with people living with diabetes, those working in the health system and our colleagues in the charity sector to make these recommendations a reality.
