A walking-football fan who lives with type 2 diabetes is tackling the One Million Step Challenge for Diabetes UK for the second year in a row. in doing so, he will raise funds for our vital work and improve his own health.
Kouros Majidi, 52, is committed to getting as fit as possible after pandemic restrictions saw his exercise regime affected.
Kouros (pictured during last year's challenge) said: “I found I put on a few extra pounds of weight during lockdown and like so many others with the change in life I found it was getting harder to exercise.
“I completed the challenge last year and found it really rewarding. It certainly helped motivate me to get out and walk every day.
“So as soon as the information came in for this year’s challenge, I signed up straight away.
“You can wander round your local community and I’ve also made lots of friends online which has been great.”

Registration for the One Million Step Challenge is free and you can take on your steps wherever you like, from your local park to your living room. Anyone who signs up will get a Million Steps profile page where they can log their steps and track their fundraising. You can use a fitness tracker, such as a Fitbit device, to track your steps, and they will be automatically added to your profile page. Alternatively, you can use your phone or pedometer to track them and upload your steps manually.
The challenge runs for 92 days, beginning on 1 July and ending on 30 September 2021.
