Diabetes UK is urging healthcare professionals who are committed to transforming care for people living with diabetes in their community to apply to be a part of the inspiring Clinical Champions leadership programme.
The programme is a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals to develop their personal leadership capabilities and unlock potential in themselves and others to create real transformation in diabetes care.
Healthcare professionals can now apply to join the programme and recruitment will close at 5pm on July 9th, 2021.
There are currently a number of clinical champions in Northern Ireland across different disciplines, chosen for their passion and commitment to excellence in diabetes.
Clinical Champions receive the following support to make systems-level change in diabetes care:
- Leadership training at the world-renowned Hult Ashridge Executive Education
- Peer support circles
- Improvement coaching from a dedicated Healthcare Improvement Consultant at Diabetes UK
- Ongoing support from Diabetes UK and Novo Nordisk.
Tina McCrossan, National Director at Diabetes UK Northern Ireland, said:
There are more than 104,000 people living with a diabetes diagnosis in Northern Ireland. If not managed well, both type 1 and type 2 diabetes can lead to serious complications such as sight loss, amputation, kidney failure and stroke.
