Diabetes Scotland is working in partnership with the SPFL Trust, a registered charity that works in partnership with all 42 SPFL (Scottish Professional Football League) clubs to develop community activities across Scotland.Â
What is it?
Football Fans in Training (FFIT) is a free 13-week programme that can help you to improve both your physical health and mental wellbeing.Â
Who is it for?
Open to both men and women, FFIT provides football fans with an opportunity to become fitter, healthier, and happier at the same time. And the best part? The programme is completely free!Â
What does it involve?
During the programme, coaches offer participants, known as ‘players’, the opportunity use Diabetes UK’s Know Your Risk tool to check their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.Â
Diabetes Scotland volunteers meet with players to provide information about type 2 diabetes and help people understand why it is important to get help and advice if you have been assessed as at High or Moderate risk of developing type 2 diabetes.Â
Players receive information about support and services available to help people build confidence in self-managing their condition and learn more about how to live well with diabetes. Â
Diabetes UK’s Learning Zone is great for advice on what to eat and tips for managing diabetes day-to-day.Â
Volunteers also share information on prevention and remission of type 2 diabetes. Â
