Like thesulphonylureas, these stimulate the cells in the pancreas to produce more insulin. However, unlike the sulphonylureas, they work very quickly but only last for a short time and are given within half an hour before each meal.
If a meal is missed, the dose must be omitted. These tablets are taken up to three times daily.

Remember that you are unlikely to experience all side effects that are listed, and you may not experience any at all. If you do, speak to your doctor as there may be another diabetes medication you could try instead.
