How do we get the right diagnosis? Join a panel of experts as we explore the discovery of different types of diabetes and treatments. Hosted by Professor Mark Strachan and Professor Rebecca Reynolds from the University of Edinburgh, this event will look at the journey of discovery of the different forms of diabetes, particularly type 1 and type 2, including a first-hand account from someone whose life has been transformed by more accurate diagnostic techniques.

Insulin: a matter of life and death?
Hosted by the University of Aberdeen and Professor Mirela Delibegovic, Director of Aberdeen Cardiovascular and Diabetes Centre, the first in a series of events by Diabetes UK Scotland will set the scene by presenting stories on the past, present and future of all things insulin. From islet transplants helping to improve diabetes care to advances in stem cells that hold promise for the future, we’ll also hear from the first patient to receive a full pancreas transplant in Scotland.
